Pets in Rental Properties:
About 30-40% of the clients I relocate want to bring their pets with them and as most of them are coming from overseas and are looking to rent properties, we then have to contend with the stark realisation that most landlords do not want pets in their properties, particularly if said pet is a large dog. This narrows even more an already small rental market.
I always advise my clients to get a reference on their pet - this can be from the real estate agent they are currently renting through, or, if they own their existing property, the agent that they are using to sell or rent their property out. If a landlord can see that they are responsible pet owners with a reference stating that their pet has not damaged their current home, it does increase the chances of persuading them to allow pets, particularly in houses.
